CIRP Committee Update - December 1, 2009 As a reminder, the Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP) is in place to mitigate the psychological impact of an incident or accident and aid in the normal recovery from these events before harmful stress reactions affect job performance, careers, families and health. Peer Support Volunteers (PSVs) who are line pilots are specifically trained and certified to provide support in critical incident stress management.

Team Update There are several opportunities for our CIRP Peer Support Volunteers to gain experience and currency by offering their time doing “practice” one- on-one telephone defusing. At recurrent training last June, we trained with several airlines that are just beginning their program. They asked if they could work with our group to do practice one-on-one telephone defusing.
