SICK TRACKING SYSTEM ACTIVATION

FedEx Flight Management’s recent announcement regarding the full implementation of the Sick Tracking System is causing considerable concern in our crew force. For your ALPA leadership, the announcement came as a surprise, as we were unfortunately not afforded any advance notice or opportunity to review the document...

e are currently posting the positions of Pilot Assistance Team Hotline (PATH) chairman, Safety Committee chairman and vice chairman and Training Committee member.

Previously, PATH was a subcommittee of the Pilot Assistance Committee. PATH will still be under the Pilot Assistance Committee umbrella, but is now a standalone committee within that group.

We are currently posting the position of chairman for our Safety Committee. This position has been filled by Captain Todd Carpenter. Todd has indicated he is ready to step down as the chairman of this committee and with his recent announcement, we are reminded of the work he's done for us over the past several years. Please join us in thanking Todd for his service to our union

Training Committee Chairman Captain Ty Sanders is looking for someone to serve on his committee and assist with their e-zine publication “Gear Up.”

In accordance with the FDX MEC Policy Manual, those pilots who desire to be considered for these positions should contact MEC Vice Chairman Captain John Cardaci at John.Cardaci@alpa.org.

Just a heads up:
The iOS 11 release date for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is confirmed for the fall. Apple hasn’t announced a specific release date. That being said, we would like to caution all pilots to wait on the official word from iPad Support before upgrading your company iPad. We will be testing the compatibility with company apps and officially announce when that upgrade is cleared to be installed. As always, the folks in Flight ops-iPad support are working behind the scenes to make our iPad program the best in the Airline industry. Thanks for your due diligence.

PROJECTED NON-CURRENCY/PILOT DOES NOT HAVE REQUIRED TRAINING

If you have not completed the Tri-Annual LMS, did you know that there is a projected NOQ flag indicating that a bid line adjustment (BLA) cannot be approved?  The same is true with projected non-currency for recurrent training, line checks, etc.

Example 1: I was awarded a line of flying for the August bid period, but had a phase-in conflict. I submitted for make-up in the View/Add Window; however, every trip is denied.  Why?  I did not complete my Tri-Annual LMS before the View/Add Window opened.  Although the deadline to complete the LMS is 23JUL17 ( Section 11.K.1.b.), if it is not completed prior to the opening of the View/Add Window, 16JUL17 0700 CDT, a pilot may not be awarded CIA make-up for the August bid period.

Example 2:  I went sick and did not attend recurrent training in my due month of JUL17.  I have been re-scheduled for recurrent training in my grace month 23-25AUG17.  When open time is released for the August bid period, I plan on dropping a 40 CH trip from my line and submit a BLA for a carryover trip, 26AUG17 through 01SEP17.  The bid line adjustment will be denied due to projected non-currency after the end of the grace month.

What does this mean?
  1. In a month that you may become non-current, be careful how you bid. A phase-in conflict may be detrimental to your pay. When you request carry-in adjustment make-up, it is considered a bid-line adjustment.
  2. Do not drop trips after the time-period that you may become non-current. You will not be able to replace that trip until you have “cured” the NOQ flag (for exception regarding 3-in-3 see below information below).
  3. Request make-up on days prior to the time you may become non-current (for exception regarding 3-in-3 see below information below).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONCERNING 3-IN-3
CBA Section 25.L.1.g. states “The Company shall not deny a pilot’s BLA on the basis of projected non-currency for landings, provided that the showtime for any trip or standby added as a result of such BLA is at least 72 hours after the pilot’s projected non-currency.”
Example 3: I am projected to be non-current for landings on 07/20/17 and have a currency simulator scheduled for 07/19/17. On 07/15/17 I submit a general make-up request for a trip which begins 07/21/17.  Although the simulator is scheduled prior to the start of the requested trip, the BLA is denied because the “pilot does not have required training" and the showtime for the trip is not at least 72 hours after projected non-currency.

Please contact fedex-enforcement@alpa.org if you have any contract concerns.
