A s we continue our fatigue awareness campaign I want to point out that you do not have to actually call in fatigued to fill out a fatigue report. I cannot overemphasize the importance of filling out reports and sending them to the company, that is how we all affect change. Along those lines, please fill out an Insite report for any issues you come across while on duty. When we meet with the company they consistently make that point, reports matter. NO DATA, NO PROBLEM!

special thanks from first officer christine miller
T he fundraising campaign for Puerto Rico is now winding down. I cannot thank the crew force enough for all of the help, support, and donations received during this effort. In all, we raised almost $13,000! The final packages were delivered last week—nearly $6,000 worth of Wal-Mart gift cards (Wal-Mart has reopened in both cities). Each employee will receive  a Wal-Mart gift card.

I'm still getting daily e-mails from grateful FedEx employees in BQN and SJU. They are so very thankful for all of the love and support our pilots have shown them over these past couple of months.

Again, thank you so much for your generosity!

First Officer Christine Miller

HEALTH SURVEY RESULTS
B elow you will find a link to a report that summarizes the health survey recently administered by your Pilot Assistance Committee via the sub group “SOULY for YOU.” The survey was performed from August 17 until September 19, 2017. An invitation to participate in the survey was sent via e-mail from ALPA’s master e-mail list to all active FDX union pilots with an email address on file. In addition, a communication web banner was launched weekly through the online Positive Rate Weekly publication to encourage all pilots to participate. Your team at FDX ALPA analyzed the responses and is now providing you with a summary of the survey results. The report is intended as an initial high-level summary of the pilots who participated. Additional trend analyses will be conducted soon.
Please click here to access the results.

Scheduling SEEKING VOLUNTEERS

The Scheduling Committee is looking for a volunteer to help evaluate pairings. Requirements include good computing and communication skills. You will be using Safte-FAST (fatigue modeling software), and SIG-X (pairing review program). New hires, this would be a great way to learn about the scheduling process. KIDS PLAYING FOR KIDS FOUNDATION
F irst Officer Jan Tavrytzky started a foundation years ago called Kids Playing for Kids. This organization is a locally inspired, non-profit foundation that aspires to connect sports playing children and teams around the world with children who have chronic or life-threatening medical conditions that have previously kept them from pursuing the joy and fun of sports. Not only do teams include these kids on their rosters, but also fundraise to help support their new teammate. These experiences teach life skills such as character, empathy, camaraderie and sportsmanship.
Next Tuesday, November 28th is #GivingTuesday. With your help, Kids Playing for Kids Foundation will have the opportunity to make a tremendous impact in their local community. Please consider making a donation and investing in the futures of children in your neighborhood and beyond. To make a donation, please click here.

souly for you seeking volunteers

SOULY FOR YOU IS SEEKING VOLUNTEER PILOTS

As we've previously shared, Souly For You is our brand-new website for health in aviation. The intention of our website is to use our findings not only for our own actualization and awakening, but also as a way to serve and awake others. This service can take many forms, especially to help, heal, teach, and offer the benefits for the awakening of all. We envision this website as a one-stop shop for inspiration, guidance, and a safe place to explore health and lifestyle options through articles, online videos, and multimedia sources. In order to keep our website up-to-date and filled with the latest information, we need volunteers. Take a look at our new website and contact me at Reyne.OShaughnessy@alpa.org if you are interested in volunteering!

ipad: managing location services
P
rivacy is very important to iPad Support and the crewmember using the device. With the iPad, you can select to allow or not to share your location with an app. This is done by launching Settings, then selecting Privacy then select Location Services. Here you can see every app that has a location setting. There are three selections to choose from: Always on, While using, and Never.
“Always on” will always track your devices location; we recommend using this setting sparingly for select apps such as AirWatch Agent and Find iPhone. “While using” only uses your location while the app is open, for apps that require your location such as Jepp FD Pro. The “Never” selection does not provide your location to that app.

It is our goal in Flight Ops iPad Support, to continue to provide you with helpful information.
