A s we continue our fatigue awareness campaign I want to point out that you do not have to actually call in fatigued to fill out a fatigue report. I cannot overemphasize the importance of filling out reports and sending them to the company, that is how we all affect change. Along those lines, please fill out an Insite report for any issues you come across while on duty. When we meet with the company they consistently make that point, reports matter. NO DATA, NO PROBLEM!

HEALTH SURVEY RESULTS
B elow you will find a link to a report that summarizes the health survey recently administered by your Pilot Assistance Committee via the sub group “SOULY for YOU.” The survey was performed from August 17 until September 19, 2017. An invitation to participate in the survey was sent via e-mail from ALPA’s master e-mail list to all active FDX union pilots with an email address on file. In addition, a communication web banner was launched weekly through the online Positive Rate Weekly publication to encourage all pilots to participate. Your team at FDX ALPA analyzed the responses and is now providing you with a summary of the survey results. The report is intended as an initial high-level summary of the pilots who participated. Additional trend analyses will be conducted soon.
Please click here to access the results.

KIDS PLAYING FOR KIDS FOUNDATION
F irst Officer Jan Tavrytzky started a foundation years ago called Kids Playing for Kids. This organization is a locally inspired, non-profit foundation that aspires to connect sports playing children and teams around the world with children who have chronic or life-threatening medical conditions that have previously kept them from pursuing the joy and fun of sports. Not only do teams include these kids on their rosters, but also fundraise to help support their new teammate. These experiences teach life skills such as character, empathy, camaraderie and sportsmanship.
Today is #GivingTuesday! With your help, Kids Playing for Kids Foundation will have the opportunity to make a tremendous impact in their local community. Please consider making a donation and investing in the futures of children in your neighborhood and beyond. To make a donation, please click here.

Volcanic ash alert - indonesia
T he Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Center, part of the U.S Geological Survey (USGS) Aviation Alert Level is at  WARNING in conjunction with an  Aviation Color Code Level RED that defines the situation as “Major volcanic eruption is imminent, underway, or suspected with hazardous activity both on the ground and in the air.” Because an eruption could result in the significant emission of volcanic ash or gases, crews transiting Southeast Asia routes should exercise caution and avail themselves of frequent updates on the status of the Mount Agung Volcano.
Bali's international airport was closed early Monday after ash from the Mount Agung volcano reached its airspace. Hundreds of flights were canceled and tens of thousands of travelers affected. The ash cloud is currently around FL300 and moving West at 5 Knots.  Based on Darwin’s Volcanic Ash Advisory Center forecast, the ash cloud alerts remain in effect for at least the next 18 hours, but they are expected to continue beyond that. Currently there is cloud cover that is covering the region, which is making it difficult to see the Volcanic Ash cloud West of Bali and the Indonesian Islands.

jepp settings: enroute wx and airport moving maps
A
common question  comes in to iPad support is how do I find or turn on a specific Jepp setting. Two features of Jepp are enroute weather and airport moving maps (AMM). To turn these features on, you must launch Settings. Next, select Jepp FD Pro. On the right hand screen, scroll until you find “Terminal Charts & AMM View.” Select “Airport Moving Map” toggle on Moving “Map” and “Set as Default on Landing”.
To turn on weather toggle “Display Enroute Wx” to on. These options will now appear in app.
