W e've been continuing to follow the updates on First Officer Brian Alexander's recovery from a fall that took place on Christmas Eve. Brian's family is extremely grateful for your generosity, kind words and prayers during this most difficult time.
As you know, medical bills and time out of work could eventually become a burden. We want to help his family and allow them to focus solely Brian's recovery without any added stress due to finances. If you are interested in supporting this family during their time of need, please visit the gofundme campaign to make a donation:  https://www.gofundme.com/help-BA-his-family .

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE WELCOMES NEW HIRES
On Tuesday 9 January, 3 members of the FDX ALPA Membership Committee along with MEC Chairman Captain Chuck Dyer and MEC Vice Chairman Captain John Cardaci, had the pleasure of meeting and welcoming our first class of new hires for 2018 .
This class of 20 new hires were all assigned MEM B-757 first officers. Their backgrounds were diverse, hailing from USAF, USN, ANG, Delta, Spirit, JetBlue, Compass, Skywest, Sun Country, ABX, Trans States, Express Jet and Net Jets. Alas, no Marines!
As a side note, FedEx hired 428 pilots in 2017. Also, the old famous caboose leather vest was retired, as all the free space was filled up with the traditional pins and mementos the former caboose wearers all adorned it with.
In 2018, a new vest was issued and the 1st pilot to wear it is FO Jeff Tredway, seniority # 4660, our first caboose of 2018!
Please join me in welcoming our latest class of new hires!
Welcome aboard, gentlemen!
Captain Vic Tansey
FDX Membership Chairman

2.    Tabs have been added for nutrition, meditation, and functional medicine
3.     Hormones—male and female alike—play an enormous part in understanding preventing, and diagnosing disease

This project began as a resource for female pilots, but it has captured the attention of our male counterparts, and we are delighted to have a range of viewers and interesting feedback from all audiences.
The intention of SFY is to broaden your knowledge, heighten your awareness, provoke questions, and start conversations about health, wellness and living well in order to become a better you. Since every pilot is different and each life is unique, we hope this information helps you and your healthcare provider discover what is best for you—as a pilot, and as family. JEPP SETTINGS: ENROUTE WX AND AIRPORT MOVING MAPS
A
common question that comes in to iPad support is how do I find or turn on a specific Jepp setting. Two features of Jepp are enroute weather and airport moving maps (AMM). To turn these features on, you must launch Settings. Next, select Jepp FD Pro. On the right hand screen scroll until you find “Terminal Charts & AMM View.” Select “Airport Moving Map” toggle on Moving “Map” and “Set as Default on Landing.” To turn on weather toggle “Display Enroute Wx” to on. These options will now appear in app.
