FEDEX ST. JUDE CLASSIC PILOTS CAR BUILD
pr_2018carbuild.png
O ur annual fundraising effort has begun for this year’s St. Jude Pilots Car Build For The Kids! Because of our fundraising efforts in the past two car builds, the FedEx Pilots have now raised over $175,000 in donations for the kids in treatment at St. Jude. Isn’t that incredible? I want to thank the 60 + volunteers who have donated their time to help with the construction of the last two Cobra-Kit builds—and I want to thank those who have helped us along the way with the project by making a donation to St. Jude in the name of the FedEx Pilots. $175,000 goes a long way towards helping St. Jude raise the over $2,000,000/day that is needed to meet their operating expenses.
Thanks to a dedicated group of FedEx Pilots,
This year’s car has already been built! ( continue reading)

FIRST OFFICER BRIAN AUSTEIN
thumbnail_052218_BAustein.jpg?r=1527011489816
Y ou may recall a message we published last month asking fellow MD-11 first officers to consider a PDO bump for FO Austein as he was very ill and unable to fly his remaining April and May trips. We've been in contact with Brian and his wife, and are sad to report that he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer with metastasis to the brain. He is currently seeking treatment options that require long distance travel and overnight stays. As you can imagine, the cost for travel and medical expenses not covered by insurance are adding up quickly. A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help ease the financial burden on this family. If you would like to help raise funds to assist Brian and his family with these unplanned expenses, please click here to be directed to the GoFundMe page. Please keep Brian and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they fight this battle against cancer.

FEDEX ALPA MENTOR PROGRAM
T he Membership Committee is starting a mentoring program for our new hire pilots. This program has been in the planning stages for several months. It is an initiative conceived and run by ALPA volunteer pilots and its focus will be to provide information, procedures and resources related to a career as a FedEx ALPA pilot, specifically during the first 12-15 months of employment. The intent is to assist new hires and help them successfully navigate through their probation period. We are sure that you would all agree that having a mentor available would be a great resource to them as they learn the FedEx system form... ( continue reading)

IPAD TIP: KEYBOARD/ACCESSIBILITY
The iPad allows several keyboard configurations for users to customize. The three configurations are split keyboard, docked/undocked and merged. The split keyboard splits the keyboard in half and moves the keyboard closer to the device’s edges.

thumbnail_052218_ipad1.jpgThe undocked keyboard allows a floating keyboard for the user to place in a desired location. This feature may come in handy for content or fields blocked by the keyboard. The docked and merged keyboard is the default.
Split keyboard must be turned on in order to use these features. To enable Launch Settings>Keyboard>Then select Split keyboard. When the keyboard is displayed tap and hold on the keyboard button in the button right to view the keyboard preferences.
It is our goal in Flight Ops iPad Support, to continue to provide you with helpful information. Please feel free to let us know what you think by writing to iPad Support at  FDCMS@fedex.com.
