FROM THE FATIGUE RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
F atigue is not an issue, unless it affects you. If you are flying hard, challenging flights and are exhausted at the end of the week—fatigue is your issue. One of the problematic parameters we are working with the company on is WMD's—weekend vs. Monday deadheads. FedEx's concern is how much it costs to change the schedule when reducing fatigue risk. One might state that the monetary gain versus the pilots' increased fatigue risk is a success. What do you think?

Y our MEC is seeking your participation in a web-based survey regarding the Retirement Research and Education project. We recently concluded a phone-based survey where 700 pilots were randomly selected for participation and this web-based survey includes the same questions. In order to provide all pilots the ability to participate, we have created a web-based survey. Maximum pilot participation is required in order to get a valid survey data set. Even if you were one of the 700 pilots who were randomly selected for the phone survey, please feel free to also complete the web survey.
Last week, you should have received an email about this web-based survey. However, if you did not receive the email or cannot locate it, we are providing a direct link to access it here.

Q. What if I do not know my ALPA number?
A. Access the following link to retrieve it: https://www.alpa.org/forgot-member-num/ or call ALPA’s Membership Services department during normal business hours (Eastern) at 1-888-FLY-ALPA.  
Q. Will the union know my individual responses to the questions?
A. No. ALPA will receive a summary of how many people have taken the poll, as well as a summary of their collective answers. We will not know your individual responses.  
Q. What if I choose not to participate?
A. Your MEC will not have the value of your input, and the results of the survey will be less reflective of the entire membership.  
Q. What do I do if I need help?
A. If you have specific questions about how to login to the survey, please send an e-mail to efasurveys@alpa.org.

FELLOW PILOTs NEEDS OUR ASSISTANCE
MEM MD-11 CAPTAIN GARY GROSS’s wife Katie has been placed into hospice care. Because he needs to remain at home with his wife and their two young daughters during this very trying time for the entire Gross family, we are asking that MEM MD-11 Captains consider bumping Gary (Employee number 445951) from the following trips:

FIRST OFFICER RYAN COOK’s wife Shelby collapsed on May 15th and has been diagnosed with two melanoma tumors in her brain and masses in her chest. As you can imagine, Rian has been spending an awful lot of time at the hospital as his wife fights for her life. We can help Rian. We ask that you keep Rian in your thoughts and prayers, we also ask those of you qualified to operate in the right seat of the B757 to please consider PDO bumping Rian's remaining June and July trips. Offering a PDO bump during this difficult time will be doing a tremendous favor for Rian and his family. Trips that Rian still has in June and July:

W ith the election of Captain John Cardaci as MEC Chairman, we will soon need to fill the MEC Vice Chairman position. Interested candidates should submit a résumé and/or position letter to MEC Secretary Treasurer Captain Captain Don Ray at Don.Ray@alpa.org. To date, we have received official notice from Capt. Dave Chase, Capt. Steve Heid, Capt. Mike Johnson, First Officer Don Loepke and Capt. Wes Reed of their intention to run for this position.

IPAD TIP: OFFICE 365 EMAIL SETUP

FedEx email is migrating over to Office365. Most of this process is implemented behind the scenes without user input. This process does require a few steps by each email user to complete setup and receive mail. We’ve created the troubleshooting steps here to resolve issues with setup of the new mail account.
