FEDEX PILOTS' CHARITABLE FUND
G reetings one and all. We hope your summer has been an enjoyable one and that you were able to spend it with friends and loved ones. We all work for various reasons, but mainly to provide for ourselves and our families, ensuring that we have what is needed for a fruitful and loving life full of joyful times. Many achieve this goal with nary a bump. Unfortunately, there are many others who are faced with major hurdles that hinder their growth and success in life. In particular, medical issues and crisis in a child’s life can have devastating effects not only on the child, but their entire family. And some never truly fully recover, if at all.
The FedExFamilyHouse at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis provides a sanctuary where families of ill children undergoing treatment can find solace and a support structure to aid in that family’s path. The FedExFamilyHouse provides an environment where families can relax and remain intact supporting their child in a trying time. Many of these children face lifethreatening circumstances that few of us will ever realize. The atmosphere the volunteers and employees of the FedExFamilyHouse provide is heroic and noteworthy. And their work is never truly done. When one family succeeds and moves forward, there are others quickly replacing them.
How can FedEx pilots aid in this endeavor? Continue reading...

FROM THE FATIGUE RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
T he company recently posted an FCIF regarding a new fatigue reporting system. This was a joint effort to create a better system, an easier and less challenging way to report fatigue.
The Fatigue Event Management (FEM) system is used by line pilots for TWO reasons:
  1. To report a fatigue event (mandatory) IAW the FOM after consultation with the Flight Duty Officer.
  2. To file a fatigue advisory report (voluntary). In this case, a fatigue event has not been created. The pilot is reporting events that need to be highlighted to the Fatigue Risk Management Group.
It is everyone’s responsibility to report fatigue when it impacts the safety of flight operations. System form changes are driven by constructive pilot feedback.
Click here for instructions on how to use the FEM system.
Two ALPA representatives process EVERY report and de-identify it. We then work with the Scheduling Improvement Group, Pilot Scheduling Improvement Team, Trip Services Committee, and others to bring about solutions to fatiguing issues.
This system is new and bound to have bugs and problems, so please familiarize yourself with this new report (you can access it and make inputs without hitting Save or Submit).
Your MEC would like to track fatigue and INSITE reports. Please take a photo of your report and send a copy to Stacey.Stewart@alpa.org.
Please email us directly, FRMG (FERC@corp.ds.fedex.com) with concerns, questions or suggestions.

FDA TRANSITION WINDOW/RETURN RELOCATION BENEFITS
D id you know that an FDA pilot is eligible for a return household goods shipment during the “FDA Transition Window” and only during that window? Paragraph C.2.h.ii. of the FDA LOA provides an FDA pilot a return household goods shipment during the pilot’s FDA Transition Window. Paragraph C.2.f.i.(b) defines the FDA Transition Window as “the period beginning 6 months prior to his activation into his post-FDA crew position and ending upon either his activation in his new crew position or 60 days after termination of his employment, whichever is earlier.” As you can see, the FDA Transition Window ends upon activation into the post-FDA crew position, which in turn ends an FDA pilot’s eligibility for FDA benefits. Of course, you should know that all associated benefits (i.e., housing allowance, return household goods shipment, de-positioning airline tickets, paid relocation days off, hotel use during exit transition, and transition allowance) are affected by the FDA Transition Window. The Agreement/FDA LOA does not provide any exceptions to the requirement of relocating prior to activation into the post-FDA crew position.
If you have any contractual questions, please contact Contract Enforcement at FedEx-Enforcement@alpa.org.

IPAD TIP: INCORRECT INFO ON CREW CARD
With the release of Vector we have received great feedback from crewmembers on many aspects of the app and areas of improvement. One common issue found by crewmembers is Vector displaying the incorrect phone number in the Crew Information section. This issue must be resolved in VIPS to display the correct phone number.
