GINA MONTALTO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

041217_jumpseatpr.png

Gina Montalto, the daughter of United Airlines Captain Tony Montalto and his wife Jennifer, was a victim of the mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018. The family has asked that any who would like to honor Gina’s life can do so by donating at her GoFundMe page to establish a scholarship in Gina’s name to help students with the cost of post-secondary education. The family’s goal is to raise $375,000, and they are presently about $6,000 short. Let’s help Gina’s parents get this fund over the top!

While the circumstances surrounding this most recent school mass-shooting event will no doubt stimulate a very confrontational debate in our nation, we should not forget the victims.

Last Tuesday, a few of our fellow FedEx pilots joined alongside pilots from other airlines and attended Gina's funeral to honor her life.

CONTENT LOCKER: HOW TO SUBMIT FLEET CHANGE REQUEST
W ith the posting of the latest system bid, there will no doubt be a large number of crew members who will need to change the content they receive in their Secure Content Locker app. This process has changed a few times in the past, and we are already seeing individuals try and get new content via the old process. With the new process in place, we have tried to make the change in content received as easy as possible for crew members. In essence, all you need to do is send us a request for the content you would like to receive, and we will get the process started. There is an article on the iPad website in PFC that describes the process. Here is a copy of the article:

As a reminder, you will typically make two requests when changing your content. The first change will be to add the content for your new fleet (before starting training), and the second request will be to delete yourself from the old fleet (after finished with training).
It is our goal in Flight Ops iPad Support, to continue to provide you with helpful information. Please feel free to let us know what you think by writing to iPad Support at FDCMS@fedex.com.

AIRPORT SAFETY LIAISON TRAINING COURSE

ALPA will offer an Airport Safety Liaison (ASL) Training Course in Canada beginning on March 16, 2018. This training course provides pilot volunteers with a basic understanding of the various aspects of the ASL's role. It assists new ASLs in identifying and carrying out their responsibilities at their assigned airports, to their Regional Airport Safety Coordinators (RASCs) and in understanding the resources available to them from ALPA's staff. Pilots who complete ASL training should be prepared to proactively engage with the officials at their assigned airport on a wide variety of safety issues.

If interested, please contact MEC Safety Chairman Captain Todd Carpenter at FedEx-SafetyChair@alpa.org to receive approval to attend. To view the course invitation, please click here
