CAPTAIN PAUL ZAHNER
We often talk about the pilots who come through ALPA's doors ready to volunteer and give freely of their time standing up for our pilots and making a difference in our careers. One of those pilots is Captain Paul Zahner and as he heads off to enjoy retirement, we were able to recognize him one last time for his tireless efforts on our behalf. Paul not only chaired our Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), but more importantly, he built it from the ground up. All the while, refusing to accept flight pay loss for his time spent doing it.
Paul was a stalwart supporter of the program and was laser focused on enhancing safety for our pilots. So, the next time you receive an ASAP alert, please know that it's the result of someone who truly cared about safety.
Here's to a long and happy retirement!
Fly Safe,
John

T hanks to your generous donations, we were able to help raise more than $50,000 in order to sponsor a Pilots for Kids/Airplane themed hospital room at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. The dedication and grand opening for the new room will be held on Friday, May 18th. All pilots are invited and spouses and children are welcome. If you would like to attend, please plan to meet in the lobby of the hospital (2001 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis) for a reception beginning at 1100. After a couple of very brief presentations during the reception, everyone will proceed to the room for the dedication, ribbon cutting and tour.
If you are planning on attending the event, or have any questions, please contact IND Pilots for Kids coordinator Captain Dan Ferracciolo at Dan.Ferracciolo@alpa.org.
