Legislative Alert for Pilots who live or work in Tennessee:

My Fellow FedEx Crewmembers,
In early March 2011, the FedEx-ALPA Legislative Affairs group briefed you on a Tennessee State House and Senate Bill that would “Prohibit employers from prohibiting employees possessing a handgun carry permit from transporting and storing a firearm out of sight in a locked vehicle on any property set aside for employee parking; prohibits employer from terminating, demoting, or other discrimination against such employees.”
In the administrative world of politics sometimes several lawmakers put forth similar bills and as time progresses the supporters coalesce and get behind one bill that best represents the collective proposed law. That is what happened here in Tennessee.
Representative McDonald has dropped his version (HB 0355) of the same bill and signed on to Representative Joshua Evan's Bill HB 2021.

Handgun Permits HB 2021/SB 2061
- As introduced, permits employees with valid handgun carry permits to store firearm in employer parking lot provided it is in a locked vehicle and in a glove box or compartment not visible from outside the vehicle.
This bill has received huge support in the Tennessee House of Representatives and is scheduled to go to the House Judiciary Committee Tuesday, April 12th. It has NOT yet gone to the Tennessee Senate.
The State Senate version is verbatim to (HB 2021) as submitted by Senator Campfield (SB2061). It is imperative that you contact your State Representative and State Senator if you’re interested in this bills passage.
