FEDEX PILOTS CAR BUILD TO BENEFIT ST. JUDE
It's time once again for our annual FedEx Pilots Car Build to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This year's replica 1965 Shelby Cobra will mark our fourth car build. Unlike other hospitals, the majority of funding for St. Jude comes from generous donors. Approximately 75 percent of the funds necessary to sustain and grow St. Jude must be raised each year from donors. This is where we need your help—please consider making a donation on behalf of our pilot group and please share our fundraising website with your friends and family! Because of our fundraising efforts in the past three car builds, the FedEx Pilots have raised over $265,000. Click here to read more.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WITH A SECONDARY LINE
Secondary Line Creation after the Bid Pack Publication
Section 25.B.4. allows for the creation of additional Secondary Lines after the bid pack has been distributed if a pilot activates in a new crew position. Notification to the affected pilot group is not required.
25.B.4.If, due to additional pilots activating in a position after the bid period
package is distributed but before the bid is awarded, an insufficient
number of lines have been published, the required number of secondary
lines shall be increased to accommodate the additional pilots.
Therefore, a pilot should enter “9952” in the Monthly bid if the intent is to be awarded any Secondary Line (those in the bid pack, as well as any potentially newly created lines). Entering “9952” ensures a pilot receives any Secondary Line rather than being limited to the ones listed in the bid pack.
Example:
25 Secondary Lines published in the bid pack for B767 Captains.
5 B767 Captains activate after the bid period package is published but before the Captain bids are awarded.
5 additional Secondary Lines are added as provided in 25.B.4.
If my bid preference includes S25, but not 9952, I would not be awarded S26-30.
If my bid preference includes 9952, I could be awarded S26-30.

pr_pilotmentor.pngThe Membership Committee is currently seeking dedicated ALPA volunteers for their pilot mentoring program. The program's focus is to provide information, procedures and resources related to a career as a FedEx pilot, specifically during the first 12-15 months of employment. The intent is to assist new hires and to help them successfully navigate through their probation period. We are sure you would agree that having a mentor available would be a great resource to them as they learn the FedEx system form. As FedEx continues to hire, we will continue to need more mentors. We are seeking dedicated ALPA

COMMITTEE CHAIR POSITIONS OPEN
We currently have several committee chairman positions open and we are actively seeking to fill these positions.
Current openings exist for the following:
  • Training Committee chairman
  • Accident Investigation Committee chairman (Captain Ian Carrero has been appointed as the interim chairman)
  • Strategic Preparedness and Strike Committee chairman (Captain Bill Hubbell has been appointed as the interim chairman)
  • Membership Committee chairman
  • P2P Committee chairman
Any pilot interested in filling these positions should contact MEC Secretary Treasurer First Officer Don Loepke at Donald.Loepke@alpa.org.
UNION DUES AFTER PROBATION ENDS
We often get asked by our new hire pilots why there is a balance of dues owed when ALPA completes their dues reconciliation each year. As a reminder, if your probation end date is after the 15th of the month, your dues will start being deducted the following month. ALPA will attempt to reach out to each individual pilot regarding the amount owed or it will come out in dues reconciliation.
