DAY TWO MEC MEETING SUMMARY
The MEC meeting reconvened today at 9 a.m. The morning session included a brief from Aeromedical Committee Chairman Captain Ross Kendall and ALPA Representation staff regarding CBA Section 15.D (Company Mandated Medical Examinations). Following the 15.D presentation and discussion, the MEC heard from Andrew Shostack, Assistant Director of Representation, and Marie Schwartz, Director of ALPA's Strategic Member Development and Resources Department (SMD&R). Andrew and Marie discussed the process of negotiations and the MEC's role during the negotiating process.
During the afternoon session, the MEC received a presentation from Doug Baj, ALPA's Assistant Director of Communications, joined by Communications Committee Chairman Captain Chris Lee on the communications resources available to our MEC as we prepare for Contract 2021 and throughout the process. The MEC also spent a portion of the afternoon discussing surveys and the importance of polling the membership on a regular basis. Today's business ended with a roundtable discussion in executive session.
Today's meeting recessed at 1818. The meeting is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at 0900. To view the agenda, please click here.
AVIATION SAFETY CULTURE SURVEY
We recently published a message regarding the Aviation Safety Culture Survey (SCS) taking place this month. This year's SCS is your opportunity to give your frank assessment of safety in our operation. You will be able to express your viewpoints on ANY subject you believe impacts the safety of our operations. If you haven't had a chance to read the message from your MEC and Safety Committee regarding this survey, we encourage you to take a few moments and read it now
SUPPORT THE PAC AND YOU COULD BE ONE OF FOUR LUCKY WINNERS
Yes, you read that correctlyany FDX pilot that begins contributing to the PAC or increases their donation will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of four prizes.
The Airline Deregulation Act passed both Houses of Congress in 1978 with bipartisan support and phased out the Civil Aeronautics Board and immediately lifted many restrictions on airlines. In spite of this, our industry remains one of the most highly regulated industries in the world and we as FDX pilots must have a seat at the table to ensure our voices are heard by the decision makers in Washington, DC. ALPA PAC allows us to have direct access to Members of Congress, in a one on one setting, to help educate them on the unique needs we have as cargo pilots. Please click the link for a 3-minute video explaining the importance of our participation in the PAC.
Now, you're wondering, what can I win? The Grand Prize winner will receive a Bose Proflight Aviation Headset and three runners-up will receive a Bose Quiet Comfort 20 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones - Apple or Android. The contest started on June 01 and will run through November 15.

FEDEX PILOTS CAR BUILD TO BENEFIT ST. JUDE
It's time once again for our annual FedEx Pilots Car Build to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This year's replica 1965 Shelby Cobra will mark our fourth car build. Unlike other hospitals, the majority of funding for St. Jude comes from generous donors. Approximately 75 percent of the funds necessary to sustain and grow St. Jude must be raised each year from donors. This is where we need your help—please consider making a donation on behalf of our pilot group and please share our fundraising website with your friends and family! Because of our fundraising efforts in the past three car builds, the FedEx Pilots have raised over $265,000. Click here to read more.

COMMITTEE CHAIR Opening
We are currently seeking to fill the Training Committee chairman position. Any pilot interested in filling this position should contact MEC Secretary Treasurer First Officer Don Loepke at Donald.Loepke@alpa.org.
UNION DUES AFTER PROBATION ENDS
We often get asked by our new hire pilots why there is a balance of dues owed when ALPA completes their dues reconciliation each year. As a reminder, if your probation end date is after the 15th of the month, your dues will start being deducted the following month. ALPA will attempt to reach out to each individual pilot regarding the amount owed or it will come out in dues reconciliation.
