LEC 100 – LAX – Important Meeting Announcements

LEC MEETING WITH MEC CHAIRMAN CAPTAIN PETE HARMON
Due to scheduling difficulties, our next LEC meeting will be changed to Sunday, 22 September. I apologize for the change and hope it doesn’t inconvenience anyone. Meeting location will be same as last time at the Bru Grill in Lake Forest at 6:30pm. Our MEC Chairman, Captain Pete Harmon and Vice-Chairman, Captain Dave Chase will be attendance to take your questions. Please try to take advantage of this opportunity.

RETIREMENT AND INSURANCE SEMINAR

The R&I team will be in LAX to give a retirement and insurance seminar to any interested pilots (don’t have to be LAX based) and their spouses on Sunday, 13 October. Meeting will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton LAX North, 9801 Airport Blvd, Los Angeles. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Parking is complimentary – please bring your parking ticket to the meeting. Start time is 9 a.m. beginning with Retirement; Insurance will be in the afternoon. If you can’t make this meeting, periodic meetings are held in Memphis and pilots can arrange to attend via phone.

UPCOMING ELECTIONS

LEC 100 has an election coming up for the three-year term beginning March 1, 2020. All three positions – Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary-Treasurer will be voted on. This next term should be critical for building a cohesive team in establishing strategy for our next round of negotiations. I will not be seeking re-election for this next term. LAX pilots and overall crew force would be best served by someone who can commit to being in the base for the next two to three years and I can’t do that. Our base is full of pilots that are engaged and committed to getting a strong contract next round and I’m confident we will have some great candidates running.

Election procedures have changed since the last time we voted. All nominations and voting will be done online – no voting will take place at an in-person Local Council meeting. Importantly, candidates must declare their willingness to serve prior to being nominated. I encourage anyone with the slightest interest in running to make this choice. The election will consist of a three-step process – all done on-line.

  1. Candidates declare their willingness to serve
  2. Nominations are voted on from the list of candidates that declared their willingness
  3. Actual election takes place from the nominees
