Despite the Chief Executive’s announcement to withdraw the extradition bill, Hong Kong protests continue to cause major disruptions of transportation, especially on the MTR.  Although protests are mostly occurring during the weekend, they have become more violent.  Protests are popping up at unannounced locations and are often targeting MTR and police stations. Current scheduled protests include:
  • Human chain at Victoria Peak on Hong Kong Island, 13 September, 1930 local time
  • Temple Mall in Wong Tai Sin, 14 September
FedEx Corporate Security is also posting known or suspected protests on the Security page of PFC located under the “Security” tab of the “Flight Operations” drop down menu.

Be advised, if you deviate into or out of HKG, FedEx Corporate Security has no way to know your plans. Utilize the Duty Officer for security information if you have a deadhead to/from HKG on the weekend. The Hong Kong Live Map is a good resource to check before any travel.

With unknown protests popping up, it is critical to remain vigilant, avoid large gatherings, follow local media coverage and follow directives from local police. Avoid wearing black or associating with protesters. If you have questions or concerns regarding your personal security while in Hong Kong, please contact FedEx Corporate APAC Security Hotline (24-hour Emergency Number) at +65.6922.2505 and the Duty Officer at 901.397.8214.
