Council 14 Message - 11/24/19

Greetings Everyone:
I want to start out by wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope that those of you that will be on the road have a chance to get back home soon for leftovers and quality family time.
I would like to make a few comments regarding the communication that came out regarding the agreement that ALPA and the Company just reached concerning spouses and children's ability to leave HKG or continue to stay in the USA until AUG.
  • This agreement is a big step in the right direction for the safety and peace of mind of our HKG families. It gives an option that was not in the CBA or LOA and demonstrates that ALPA and the Company are aware that there are problems and, moreover, very concerned. It is clear we have passed on information, and the Company wants to keep the communication lines open.
  • This agreement is not a one size fits all. It was created based on the fact the pilots are all USA citizens and came to the FDA's -HKG or SFS -from the USA or USA domicile. We know there are folks with circumstances that prevent the USA from being an option. I will ask that if you fall into this category due to Passport, VISA, or citizenship issues, please contact me. Reasonable situations will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
  • I want to make it clear that this agreement is NOT a clearance to be a commuter and receive the housing allowance. It IS a clearance to take care of your family, and the reasonable person theory is that the pilot will see his family. Be smart.
In closing, thanks to everyone passing on critical information via PDR and INSITE venues.
