Council 100 Update

Greetings LAX’ers,

Below are three links that you’ve likely seen before in recent communications from your union. I just wanted to pass them on, all on one page, to facilitate participation.

These are time-critical actions needed to affect changes (or prevent them) that directly impact our safety, quality of life, and take-home pay.

As a reminder, our LEC meeting is at the Hacienda Hotel on Sunday, 30 October at 1100. FDX MEC Chairman Scott Stratton will be our guest speaker. See you there.

In Unity,

Tony Miller

LEC100 Chairman

-RETIREMENT TAXATION CALL TO ACTION:

You’ve probably read in recent Chairman’s Messages, Congress is considering reducing the tax-deferred limits on your retirement savings, also known as 415c limits. My back-of-the-napkin estimates have this costing some crewmembers over $20k per year in increased taxes compared to today. This Call to Action will take about 30 seconds, and only requires your ALPA member number to log-on, no password required.

-FLIGHT TIME/DUTY TIME CALL TO ACTION:

Please encourage Washington to publish the new Flight Time/Duty Time rules, which Congress had mandated for 1 August of this year. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is currently reviewing the rules for cost analysis.  Let them know that Safety isn’t a cost issue.  Again, this takes about 30 seconds and you only need your ALPA member number to complete.

-SCHEDULING SURVEY:

Our Sig/PSIT is currently conducting a survey, its first in about a decade. This survey, which takes about 20 minutes to complete, will help them determine the crewforce’s desires for line and pairing construction. It has questions with specific answers (multiple choice), and others where you can type your own input.  This is our chance to get input directly to the SIG in mass quantity, please take the time to participate. The link will take you directly to the ALPA login screen (member number and password required), then directly to the ‘Click Here for Survey’ page.
