Captain Plowman
1515 Captain Plowman
-Council Officer Turnover:
Mike gave an
overview of the ongoing turnover between the current and incoming Council
Officers. 1 March is the official
date of turnover and all three incoming Officers will be fully up to speed and
ready to assume these positions on that date.
Jeff Brelsford and Mike Plowman will both be present at the MEC meeting
in Memphis 12-16 February.
-Recurrent Training Footprint:
The Company claims to have found the programming “glitch” that has been
causing errors in the accuracy of our recurrent training footprints.
Mike emphasized the importance of comparing the footprint with the
scheduled deadheads for accuracy.
This can be done by viewing the “Activities Display” in VIPS.
If these times are in error, inaccuracies in event conflicts and per diem
payments are possible.
-Cargo Cutout:
Mike spoke briefly about the Cargo Cutout and the disappointing turn of
events allowed by the OMB. ALPA is
committed to “One Level of Safety,” and this fight will continue.
1600
Kevin Kelly, PSIT
Kevin gave a
brief overview of recent pairing trends. He
detailed the improvements we were able to realize in the “Saigon Loop,”
elimination of “drool” turns, some undesirable deadheads and efforts to improve
Saigon Catering. He further reiterated the importance of the use of SIG PIREPs
which can be found on the SIG page of the ALPA website.
1615
Ken Dubinsky, Security
Ken
described a recent situation in which the spouse of a HKG pilot was detained and
charged by local police due to a window coming loose and falling from their
flat. Nobody was injured and a
legal case is still pending. This
situation highlights the necessity for a phone tree and timely notification of
FDX ALPA Volunteers in all potential matters of security.

Mike Plowman
-HKG Housing allowance mess
Mike gave a
general overview of current discipline cases.
Thus far, no discipline has resulted from these cases and two of the
seven have been closed. Five cases are still open awaiting a decision.
Mike spoke
in general terms regarding the efforts by our Representation and Negotiating
Committees as well as the MEC Officers engaging the Company in pursuit of an
acceptable resolution to this situation.
Significant
discussion among the council ensued with the overall tone expressing serious
dismay for the lack of clarity in the FDA LOA/CBA with regard to HKG FDA
relocation, the uncertainty and unwarranted suspicion hanging over the entire
HKG pilot group and the overreaching intrusion into our family’s personal lives.
Further consensus was reached agreeing that the limited communication of this
situation to the pilot group at large needs attention.
Walt Carlson
introduced a Council resolution for consideration and after lengthy discussion,
a motion was made by Monte Wedl to remand this resolution to subcommittee for
editing and proper formatting. Rob
Mullin seconded the motion and the motion carried.
1730
Motion to adjourn by Ken Dubinsky,
Seconded by Emmanuel Khaiat
1730
Meeting adjourned.
