FROM THE MILITARY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Death, taxes, and Company phone calls about MLA during Peak…three things that you can be sure of in life! All of our military members are acutely aware of the importance of minimizing military duties during the Peak season at FedEx. It is the single most important financial earning period for the Company, and manning is always a challenge from November until the first week of January. Regardless of the importance of Peak at FedEx, the United States military does not slow down their operational tempo around the holidays, and many units still demand participation during Peak. For those military members that are able to reschedule or defer military obligations outside the Peak season, please know that both ALPA and the Company appreciate the effort in meeting the demands of Peak. For those Military members who still need to fulfill unit obligations during Peak, please be aware that the Company will most likely contact you to request a deferral of that service.

FEDEX PILOTS' CHARITABLE FUND
W e all work for various reasons, but mainly to provide for ourselves and our families, ensuring that we have what is needed for a fruitful and loving life full of joyful times. Many achieve this goal with nary a bump. Unfortunately, there are many others who are faced with major hurdles that hinder their growth and success in life. In particular, medical issues and crisis in a child's life can have devastating effects not only on the child, but their entire family. And some never truly fully recover, if at all.
The FedExFamilyHouse at LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis provides a sanctuary where families of ill children undergoing treatment can find solace and a support structure to aid in that family's path. The FedExFamilyHouse provides an environment where families can relax and remain intact supporting their child in a trying time. Many of these children face lifethreatening circumstances that few of us will ever realize. The atmosphere the volunteers and employees of the FedExFamilyHouse provide is heroic and noteworthy. And their work is never truly done. When one family succeeds and moves forward, there are others quickly replacing them.
How can FedEx pilots aid in this endeavor? Continue reading...

FROM CONTRACT ENFORCEMENT
Secondary Line holders have additional opportunities to adjust their vacation. Secondary Lines have a 48 hour buffer, if not waived on each side of the vacation. For example, a secondary line holder that has already slid a vacation 2 days to the left, has the opportunity to again slide their vacation up to 3 more days to the left or 7 days to the right (for a total slide of 5 days from the original start point) or slide it for the first time up to 5 days. They may also choose to allocate fewer or more hours towards their BLG for the month. Finally, a secondary line holder can also adjust the footprint of the vacation to reduce the footprint (to pick up a trip that the pilot would like to fly, that’s in conflict with the footprint or buffer).
There are certain times that these adjustments can happen:
Conflict Input Window – is where any pilot may slide their vacation.
View/Add Window – is where Secondary Line holders would adjust the hours applied to their vacation.
Secondary Working Window – during the first 48 hours of the SWW is when Secondary Line holders may slide the vacation, and when the Secondary Line holder could adjust the footprint.
If you have any questions regarding how to adjust your vacation with a secondary line, please reach out to Contract Enforcement prior to the close of the View/Add so we can fully advise how to maximize your vacation adjustments.
