FROM THE JUMPSEAT COMMITTEE: KNOWN CREWMEMBER ETIQUETTE
About a month ago, I published an article regarding  Jumpseat Etiquette, reminding all of us what is appropriate and what is not when riding on our airline and others. As many of you know, we negotiated for Known Crewmember (KCM) as part of our current contract. The use of KCM has been a huge benefit for our crewforce, particularly for those who commute to and from work or deadhead frequently.
During a recent National Jumpseat Committee conference call, the particular subject of KCM etiquette was discussed in depth. There has been an uptick in violations within the KCM program, both with pilots and flight attendants, violating the KCM rules at KCM checkpoints. Unfortunately, some of these incidents have resulted in local law enforcement getting involved.
We all have the responsibility to follow the rules so as not to lose this privilege. Feel free to go to the KCM website to review the rules. As a reminder, please visit the TSA website as a refresher on the items that are prohibited through KCM and TSA checkpoints.
I realize that this is not the majority, but just a few that either make a mistake or willfully break the rules. Iʼm publishing this message as a simple reminder and something for our new hires to be cognizant of moving forward. I truly appreciate the professionalism of our pilots. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

FEDEX ALPA MENTOR PROGRAM
T he Membership Committee recently launched a new program aimed at pilot mentoring for new hires. Our first group of pilot mentors were trained last September and assigned to new hires in October. This initiative was designed by and is run by ALPA pilot volunteers. The program's focus is to provide information, procedures and resources related to a career as a FedEx pilot, specifically during the first 12-15 months of employment. The intent is to assist new hires and to help them successfully navigate through their probation period. I am sure that you all agree that having a mentor available would be a great resource to them as they learn the FedEx system form. As FedEx continues to hire, we will continue to need more mentors. We are seeking dedicated ALPA
volunteers to become mentors. We will host our next in-person mentor training seminar in Memphis February 12-13, 2019.
For those in ANC, CGN and HKG, we will have online training sessions that will be scheduled in the near future. To read more and sign up to be a part of this great program, please click here
