Message from the Jumpseat and Security Committees - 3/28/19

Recently, there have been 2 alleged attempts to access offline jumpseats by non-pilot FedEx personnel. Although unsuccessful, both incidents have received significant attention on social media and are being investigated. FDX ALPA has shared our concern with the other pilot unions and FedEx Management. These attempts at illegal jumpseating highlight the need for continued vigilance regarding cockpit security and Pilot in Command authority regarding cockpit access.
Please continue to be courteous and professional as you jumpseat offline. You should expect extra scrutiny and have your license and medical ready for the PIC to review. Remember, jumpseating is a privilege and you should expect to be verified in today’s post 9/11 world.
As a reminder, we believe this would be a good time to review ALPA’s Jumpseat Etiquette. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
